It is very thematic and all, gives you the general idea that casting a spell is not just flicking your fingers. But does it work in practice? I find that it takes a lot of time, can be easily disrupted and if you fail, you have to start over again. I haven't played with any of the four mages, and I've never played with a high Circle character, so I don't know, but it seems that a mage can be preparing his spell for so long, that when it's finally ready, the fight is already over.
