I think you are going in chunks in production. Try implementing all the game's mechanichs first and use placeholder art, polishing on mechanics and stuff for later, instead of getting everything done step by step. I agree with the whole, no tf yet, thingy. But it's just an early demo. So, don't worry about those comments. I'm sure you'll take care of it later. If I were you.
I'd make the rooms in 60fps, and try to add gamepad support to it (it's super easy to do). GML shines in 60 FPS. There is a feedback flaw in the fact that some parts of the game need you to jump to the void to continue and some kill you if you do, you need to find a way to hint your player if something is a safe drop or not.
Use some distinction on the Placeholder messages and the history stuff. Find a way to differentiate when you are breaking the 4th wall. (some sort of tech UI on the chat box when the info is part of the story and not the black you use as a dev speaking to your players) GML things to take into consideration: GML best features are particle systems and lighting effects, use them. Looks good, the art alone is fucking amazing and the animation is breathtaking. This is a game. It shows that the team has experience making games (not so sure about the production order though).
