Hi, i have a tomtom XXL IQ Routes (4EP0.001.01) and it all started, when suddenly the screen went black and it didn't start at all. After that i installed tomtom home, connected to pc and it started but the device was just not recognized by tomtom home or windows. After a few tries (pressing the on/off button for 15 sec, etc.) it was recognized by tomtom home. So just browsed all forum entries, support issues and tried to use the flash tool which is just not working. Manual memory checking is cancelled after 30 mins with the message - the device cannot be checked.

Tried to use the 'operate my device' function and i can choose the language, etc. But when trying to select a voice it says File system access error. So, is there anyway to 're-install' the whole device?

Thanks a lot in advance. The memory checking is telling the story.problem with the flash memory.. I am assuming that you have no backup of the memeory. You might try reformatting the memory and see if it can be revived.

If the format goes ok you can try updating the device to reinstall the application software. The problem is that without a backup you have no map data. If the unit is in warranty you can call TomTom to setup a download of your map. If it is out of warranty you will have to purchase the map.

If the gps memory fails to format and the unit is in warranty then you can send it back to TomTom for a replacement. Hi, today morning about 08:30 I did a map share. During the procedure surprisingly the letters became red coloured and TT-Home noted an error with suggestion, to try a second time. I did, with the result, that my XXL IQ is fully running crazy with booting itself all the way.

Nevertheless I did a call to Germany assistance center with the result, they will send me a mail with instructions to repair by myself I would like to know, whether there is anybody knowing what has happened and give short explanation to me.
